in a previous post the real difference between liberals and conservatives, i linked to a video from TEDtalks, which discussed the five basic psychological foundations of morality:  harm/care, fairness/reciprocity, ingroup/loyalty, authority/respect, purity/sanctity.  basically, liberals are said to score strongest under harm/care and fairness/reciprocity, while conservatives score strongest under ingroup/loyalty, authority/respect, and purity/sanctity.  they’ve found that arguments between liberals and conservatives center especially around issues involving ingroup/loyalty and purity/sanctity.

as a continuation of that, i went to yourmorals.org and took their “moral foundations questionaire”.  my results were exactly as i would have expected.

my results, liberals, conservatives

“Psychologist Jonathan Haidt studies the five moral values that form the basis of our political choices, whether we’re left, right or center. In this eye-opening talk, he pinpoints the moral values that liberals and conservatives tend to honor most.”

first, for anyone who doesn’t know… “hot-linking” is when someone uses a link to an image that is saved on another website instead of saving a copy of the image on the website that the picture will be shown on. ( - from wikipedia).  so for example, another website linking directly to an image that’s on my website, instead of saving the image to their website and then using it.  it’s called bandwidth theft and it upsets a great many website owners.  me, i don’t really care, for the most part.

but…

a funny thing happened on the way to checking my stats.  nestled among referring sites was this link to free republic.  free republic being filled with conservative blunderheads… the type that keeps worldnutdaily in business.  sure enough, upon visiting the link, i found none other than a happy bunny “no sucky losers allowed” image, linked directly from my site, gracing it’s pages (a poster had used it in a reply to the story “Even By Trial Lawyer Standards, Edwards A Real Sleazebag").

this is the actual post that the image was in.  if you click on it, you can see the entire page.

so i decided to have a bit of fun smile i created an entirely ~new~ image and replaced the image they were using with it smile here’s the after smile

ahhh.  sometimes, life IS good smile

This is where rightwing radio, conservative talk shows, conservative politicians and preachers brings us to.  This is the end result of conservatism.

Police: Man shot churchgoers over liberal views

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - An out-of-work truck driver accused of opening fire at a Unitarian church, killing two people, left behind a note suggesting that he targeted the congregation out of hatred for its liberal policies, including its acceptance of gays, authorities said Monday.

A four-page letter found in Jim D. Adkisson’s small SUV indicated he intentionally targeted the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church because, the police chief said, “he hated the liberal movement” and was upset with “liberals in general as well as gays.”

Adkisson was a loner who hates “blacks, gays and anyone different from him,” longtime acquaintance Carol Smallwood of Alice, Texas, told the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Adkisson “stated that he had targeted the church because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country, and that he felt that the Democrats had tied his country’s hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of the major media outlets,” Investigator Steve Still wrote.

Parkey’s wife, Amy Broyles, was visiting the church to see her daughter in the play. She said Adkisson “was a man who was hurt in the world and feeling that nothing was going his way,” she said. “He turned the gun on people who were mostly likely to treat him lovingly and compassionately and be the ones to help someone in that situation.”

People like Rush Limbaugh, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Jesse Helms… this is where you’ve brought us.  Or, like Michael Savage:

Savage on autism: “A fraud, a racket. ... In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out”

On his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage claimed that autism is “[a] fraud, a racket. ... I’ll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That’s what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they’re silent? They don’t have a father around to tell them, ‘Don’t act like a moron. You’ll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.’ “

He also stated that the ongoing asthma epidemic is “a money racket” staged by “the minority community” to get “extra welfare.” Here’s how the racket works, according to the hatemonger Savage: “When the nurse looks at you, you go [fake cough], ‘I don’t know, the dust got me.’ See, everyone had asthma from the minority community.”
